- 2026학년도 학위수여 및 입학식…졸업생 56명, 신입생 충원율 100% 달성

 
 
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(총장 한태준)가 21일 인천 송도 IGC 대강당에서 ‘2026학년도 학위수여 및 입학식’을 개최했다.
 
올해 졸업생은 총 56명(분자생명공학 42명, 환경공학 5명, 식품공학 9명)으로 이들은 240학점 이수, 100% 영어 수업, 4학년 1학기 벨기에 본교 수학, 그리고 인턴십 등 엄격한 학사 과정을 모두 마치고 유럽 이학사 학위를 취득했다.
 
행사에는 페트라 드 수터(Petra De Sutter) 벨기에 겐트대학교 총장, 미힐 클레만스(Michiel Ceulemans) 주한 벨기에 대사관 공관 차석, 변주영 인천글로벌캠퍼스(IGC) 운영재단 대표이사 등 주요 인사와 학생, 학부모, 교직원 등 500여 명이 참석해 영예로운 졸업과 입학의 기쁨을 한마음으로 축하했다.
 
행사는 ▲교수진 행진 ▲환영사 및 축사 ▲학사보고 ▲학위수여식 ▲졸업생·신입생 대표 연설 그리고 ▲가수 거미의 축하공연 순으로 진행됐다.
 
졸업생들은 생명·바이오 분야의 세계적 명문 대학원 또는 의학·약학전문대학원에 진학하거나 글로벌 대기업에 입사하는 등 그 역량을 입증하고 있다.
 
페트라 드 수터 겐트대학교 총장은 축사를 통해 “과학은 우리에게 지식과 새로운 가능성을 제공하지만 그 가능성을 어떻게 활용할지는 판단력, 상상력, 그리고 책임감을 필요로 한다”며 “끊임없는 과학적 호기심을 갖는 것을 멈추지 말아달라”고 강조했다.
 
한편 신입생들도 대표 연설과 배지 수여를 통해 새로운 출발을 알렸으며, 올해 봄과 가을에 걸쳐 입학한 신입생은 총 225명으로 충원율 100%를 달성했다.
 
한태준 총장은 축사를 통해 “졸업은 단순히 무엇을 배웠는지가 아니라 여러분이 어떤 사람으로 성장했는지를 축하하는 자리”라며 졸업생들의 용기와 성취를 격려했다. 이어 “스스로에 대한 굳건한 믿음과 끝없는 호기심, 타인을 향한 배려를 바탕으로 세상에 긍정적인 변화를 이끄는 인재가 되어 달라”고 당부했다.
 
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 생명·바이오 분야에서 세계적 명성을 가진 벨기에 겐트대학교의 인천 송도 소재 확장캠퍼스로 국내 유일의 유럽대학이다. 2014년 개교 이래 과감하고 담대하게 생각하는 글로벌 인재 양성에 힘쓰고 있다.

- 2026 Fall Commencement & Matriculation…56 Graduates, 100% Freshman Enrollment Rate Achieved

Ghent University Global Campus held the ‘2026 Fall Commencement and Matriculation Ceremony’ at the IGC Auditorium in Songdo, Incheon on the 21st.
 
The total number of graduates this year is 56 (42 in Molecular Biotechnology, 5 in Environmental Technology, 9 in Food Technology). They have completed a rigorous academic program, including earning 240 credits, taking 100% English-taught courses, studying at the home campus in Belgium during the first semester of their senior year, and completing an internship, to acquire a European Bachelor of Science degree.
 
The ceremony was attended by over 500 people, including distinguished guests such as Petra De Sutter, Rector of Ghent University, Belgium, Michiel Ceulemans, Deputy Head of Mission at the Embassy of Belgium in Korea, and Ju-young Byun, CEO of the Incheon Global Campus (IGC) Foundation, along with students, parents, and faculty, who all gathered to celebrate the joyous and honorable graduation and matriculation.
 
The event proceeded in the following order: ▲ Procession of the Faculty ▲ Welcoming and Congratulatory Remarks ▲ Academic Report ▲ Conferral of Degrees ▲ Speeches by the Representatives of the Graduates and New Students, and ▲ A Congratulatory Performance by Singer Gummy.
 
The graduates are demonstrating their capabilities by advancing to prestigious graduate schools in the life and biotechnology fields, entering medical or pharmaceutical graduate schools, or joining global corporations.
 
In her congratulatory remarks, Petra De Sutter, Rector of Ghent University, emphasized, "While science provides us with knowledge and new possibilities, how to utilize those possibilities requires judgment, imagination, and a sense of responsibility," and urged the students to "never stop maintaining an endless scientific curiosity.“
 
Meanwhile, the new students also announced their new beginning through a representative speech and a badge presentation. The total number of new students admitted throughout the spring and fall of this year is 225, achieving a 100% enrollment rate.
 
In his congratulatory remarks, Campus President Taejun Han encouraged the courage and achievements of the graduates, stating, "Graduation is not simply a celebration of what you have learned, but a celebration of who you have become." He then added, "Please become individuals who lead positive changes in the world, based on a firm belief in yourselves, endless curiosity, and care for others.“
 
Ghent University Global Campus is the extended campus of Ghent University, Belgium, which holds a global reputation in the life and biotechnology fields, located in Songdo, Incheon, and is the only European university in Korea. Since its opening in 2014, it has been striving to foster global talents who dare to think boldly and courageously.
