Profile of the Candidate
- We are recruiting a highly qualified and motivated candidate to join our team as a post-doctoral research scientist in plant biotechnology. The ideal candidate will have a PhD degree in Plant Molecular Biology, Plant Molecular Biotechnology, Crop science, or a related field.
- The selected candidate will have a strong publication record in the field of plant molecular biology, along with substantial knowledge of plant hormone signaling pathways. Practical laboratory experiences in the production of transgenic plants and fundamental skills in molecular biology -including cloning, construction, qRT-PCR, protein purification, and enzymatic analyses - are preferred.
- As an independent researcher with strong self-learning abilities, you will be expected to demonstrate a creative and inquisitive attitude. A team player and a team leader, you will effectively mentor PhD students and bachelor students, sharing your knowledge with the team and contributing to the institutional culture.
- You are able to work effectively in a team environment and able to work collaboratively with colleagues, supervisors, and other group members.
- Educational experience and participation on extra-curriculum training (e.g., conference) is recommended.
- You have strong didactic, communicative skills and a large interest in providing and supporting academic education.
- You have an excellent academic track record, an excellent command of English (Bachelor's degree or higher from an English-speaking country or a minimum TOEFL iBT score of 85 or an IELTS score of 6.5), and good academic writing and presentation skills.
- You are willing to participate in the educational programs in GUGC.
Job Description
- You conduct high-quality scientific research on the field of signal transduction pathway of phytohormone to unravel crosstalk between ABA and ethylene from evolutionary perspectives.
- You assist the supervisor to (a) conduct research using Arabidopsis and Liverwort at the molecular level and (b) contribute to research-related activities (presenting results at conferences, organizing academic conferences, applying for research funding, and so on). The research workload is expected to be around 50% of available time.
- You publish your research results in peer-reviewed international journals and actively participate in (inter)national conferences.
- You assist the supervisor in the mentoring of Bachelor, and PhD students at Ghent University Global Campus. You assist in teaching occasional courses. You assist the Research Center with teaching practical parts of undergraduate courses (General Biology, Plant Biology, Molecular Biology, Plant Physiology, and Integrated Practicum 1, including wet-and dry-lab practical exercises). You assist with grading, examinations, and other educational duties of the research center. The educational workload is expected to be around 50% of available time.
- You assist a professor at GUGC Plant Biotechnology Research Center to further develop and expand the research projects.
