tvN 프로그램 '유 퀴즈 온 더 블럭'(이하 '유퀴즈')에 '지게효자'로 출연해 세간의 주목을 받은 이군익 고문이 지난 17일, 퀴즈를 풀어 받은 상금 100만 원 전액을 겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(총장 한태준)에 기부한 것으로 전해졌다.
이 고문은 “상금을 기부할 곳을 고민하다 현재 고문으로 있는 겐트대 글로벌캠퍼스에 전액 기부하기로 했다. 글로벌 인재로 거듭날 겐트대 학생들에게 장학금이 전달되면 자연스럽게 효행이 장려되면서, 한국의 전통 효 문화가 세계로 뻗어나가지 않을까 하는 생각에 기부를 결정했다.”라고 밝혔다.
뿐만 아니라 이 고문은 학교 발전기금에 꾸준한 기부를 이어 왔다고 학교 측은 밝혔다. 2024년 1월 학교 자문위원으로 활동한 이래, 발전기금으로 5년간 총 1,004만 원을 약정해 납부를 이어오고 있다.
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스는 기부된 상금과 발전기금을 글로벌 인재로 거듭날 학생들이 우리 민족의 미풍양속인 효 문화의 긍지를 굳건히 할 수 있도록 운용할 계획이다.

Gunik Lee, who drew public attention after appearing on the tvN program You Quiz on the Block as the “Devoted Son with a Wooden Carrier,” donated his entire ₩1 million prize from the show to Ghent University Global Campus (President Taejoon Han) on June 17.
“I thought deeply about where to donate the prize money and decided to give it all to Ghent University Global Campus, where I currently serve as an advisor,” said Lee. “I hope that providing this scholarship to future global leaders will naturally promote filial values and help spread Korea’s traditional culture of filial piety around the world.”
The university also shared that Lee has been continuously supporting its development fund. Since becoming an advisor in January 2024, he has pledged a total of ₩10.04 million (KRW 10,040,000) to be donated over five years.
Ghent University Global Campus plans to use both the prize money and the pledged development fund to nurture global talents who take pride in Korea’s cherished tradition of filial piety.
President Taejoon Han of Ghent University Global Campus expressed his gratitude, saying, “We are truly thankful to Advisor Lee for generously donating his prize money to support the growth of our university. We will do our utmost to use both the prize and development funds to further cultivate global talents and encourage interest in filial values among our students.”
