예비신입생 적응 돕는 ‘겐린이를 부탁해’ 행사 성료
- 재학생 선배와 소규모 그룹 매칭 통해 대학 생활 노하우 공유
겐트대학교 글로벌캠퍼스(총장 한태준)는 16일, 예비신입생들의 학교생활 적응을 지원하기 위한 ‘겐린이를 부탁해’ 행사를 개최했다고 밝혔다.
이번 행사는 국내 유일의 유럽 대학인 겐트대학교의 독특한 학제 시스템을 예비신입생들이 쉽게 이해하고, 입학 전 재학생 선배들과의 교류를 통해 빠른 학교생활 적응을 유도하기 위해 마련됐다. 이날 행사에는 재학생 멘토 20여 명과 예비신입생 120여 명이 참석해 성황을 이뤘다.
행사는 예비신입생과 재학생이 소규모 그룹으로 매칭되어 편안한 분위기 속에서 진행됐다. 참여 학생들은 ▲ 유럽 학제 이해, ▲효율적인 학업 관리, ▲캠퍼스 생활 및 동아리 활동, 그리고 ▲전공과 진로 등 예비신입생들이 가장 궁금해하는 현실적인 주제로 깊이 있는 대화를 나눴다.
특히 재학생들은 본인이 직접 겪은 학교생활 노하우를 공유하며 예비신입생들의 큰 호응을 얻었다. 예비신입생들 또한 평소 가졌던 궁금증을 해소하며 입학 후 대학 생활에 대한 기대감을 높였다.
최정숙 입학팀장은 “예비신입생들이 낯설 수 있는 유럽 학제를 이해하고, 선배들과의 네트워크를 통해 자신감을 얻는 기회를 제공하고자 이번 행사를 기획했다”며, “앞으로도 학생들이 캠퍼스 생활 전반에 걸쳐 신속하게 적응하고 역량을 발휘할 수 있도록 다각적인 지원 프로그램을 실행할 계획”이라고 밝혔다.

- Sharing University Life Know-how through Small Group Matching with Senior Students
Ghent University Global Campus (Campus President, Prof. Dr. Taejun Han) announced on the 16th that it held the ‘Welcome, Ghent Newbies’ event to support prospective students’ adaptation to university life.
This event was designed to help prospective students easily understand the unique academic system of Ghent University, the only European university in Korea, and to encourage rapid adaptation to school life through interaction with current senior students before admission. About 20 student mentors and 120 prospective students attended the event, making it a great success.
The event was held in a relaxed atmosphere with prospective and current students matched in small groups. Participating students engaged in in-depth conversations on practical topics of greatest interest to prospective students, such as ▲ understanding the European academic system, ▲ efficient academic management, ▲ campus life and club activities, and ▲ majors and career paths.
In particular, current students shared their own first-hand university life know-how, receiving a great response from prospective students. Prospective students also cleared up their usual curiosities and increased their expectations for university life after admission.
Jungsuk Choi, Head of the Admissions Team, stated, “We planned this event to provide an opportunity for prospective students to understand the European academic system, which may be unfamiliar, and to gain confidence through networking with seniors.” She added, “We plan to implement various support programs so that students can quickly adapt and demonstrate their capabilities throughout campus life.”
Through this event and upcoming orientations, prospective students will officially begin their studies as members of Ghent University Global Campus, the only European university in Korea, at the entrance ceremony on February 27.
