Ghent University Global Campus Hosts Student-Led ‘Ghent Day’ to Strengthen Campus Community
Student clubs including GOAT and OPHOGEN lead hands-on activities and inter-campus engagement
Ghent University Global Campus (GUGC) held its student-led community event, “Ghent Day,” on September 30 in the campus central garden,
bringing together students through a variety of activities and opportunities for interaction.
The event was organised in response to student suggestions for more opportunities to connect with one another and take part in campus activities.
By bringing several smaller activities together into one event, Ghent Day offered students a wide range of experiences in a single setting.
Student clubs including Gyoziphop, GOAT, Sync, OPHOGEN, GGOOD, and WAH operated booths reflecting their own interests and ideas.
Participants took part in activities such as tarot card readings, keyring making, and craft sessions, while learning more about the different clubs and engaging with fellow students.
Students from other universities within Incheon Global Campus (IGC) also joined the event, adding an inter-campus dimension to Ghent Day.
GUGC students and students from neighbouring universities enjoyed the activities and an outdoor movie screening together, creating further opportunities for interaction across campuses.
The student-planned and student-operated programmes provided more than entertainment.
They created a space where students from different academic backgrounds and with different interests could meet, exchange ideas, and share new experiences.
The event also reflected GUGC’s emphasis on student engagement and an open, international campus community.
A GUGC representative said, “Ghent Day was shaped by the creativity and voluntary participation of our students.
It gave student clubs an opportunity to showcase their ideas while also creating a welcoming space for the wider campus community to connect and enjoy new experiences together.”
Ghent University Global Campus will continue to support student-led initiatives and provide opportunities for interaction, collaboration, and community building across campus.
Ghent University Global Campus is the Asian campus of Ghent University in Belgium,
located in Songdo, Incheon, offering English-taught science and technology bachelor’s programmes in an international academic environment.
